Jeremy Blake Missing after Theresa Duncan's Suicide
Sadly, the New York Times reported this past Saturday that rising digital artist Jeremy Blake is missing, apparently just a week after his long-time girlfriend and artistic collaborator, Theresa Duncan, committed suicide. Cultural critic Ron Rosenbaum has weighed in with his conspiracy theories. And Modern Art Notes reports that the exhibit Wild Choir: Cinematic Portraits by Jeremy Blake will continue as planned this October at Washington's Corcoran Gallery of Art.
I was first introduced to the pair on March 21, 2000 at the opening reception of the Whitney Biennial. Their video collaboration, The History of Glamour, combined the codes of fiction with reality, fashion with art, and animation with MTV.
